Local bank robbed; suspect wore large bath towel

An Horry County State Bank branch was robbed today.

The bank, on U.S. 17 Bypass just south of the backgate of the former Air Force base, was held up around 11:30, according to Horry County police.

The suspect showed a handgun and wore a large white bath towel on his head during the robbery. He fled the scene on foot, remains on the loose and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
